Our Story

The story of Kangashoiva Oy began around 2009–2010, when we decided to build something truly our own – something warm-hearted, people-oriented, and local. In 2010, we purchased the former Kangaskylä school property, which became the foundation for Kiinteistöosakeyhtiö Kangaskoti. There, we built not only the base for our future business but also our own homes. Kangaskoti literally became the heart that united home and work.

In the early years, we focused on care services, responding to local needs with flexibility and compassion. Over the years, our home has welcomed many children and young people through family daycare, support family work, respite care, and supported housing. But as in life, our business also evolved over time. The needs of our clients guided us toward new directions.

In 2017, we expanded our operations and founded the auxiliary business name HetApu Staffing Services. HetApu began offering care-sector staff leasing in Northern Central Finland, Northern Ostrobothnia, and the Kuopio region. Our services helped both private and public care providers meet their growing staffing needs. Over the years, we employed numerous professionals in the care field.

By 2023, HetApu had as many as 63 employees. Our way of working and our guiding principle - “with a big heart and a humble mind” - earned us a strong reputation as a respected employer in the social and healthcare sector. We don’t actively recruit - people want to work for HetApu, and there’s no shortage of applicants.

When the new regional wellbeing areas began operating, the demand for outsourced services decreased significantly. To adapt, we expanded our service range: in early 2024, we started offering support and cleaning services, and in the same year, we took our first steps into the accommodation and travel sector.

The first guests stayed in our facilities in 2023, and in 2024 we renovated the spaces under Kiinteistöosakeyhtiö Kangaskoti to better suit accommodation use. At the same time, we strengthened Kangaskoti’s visibility and invested actively in marketing - we wanted to share with more people what a unique place Kangaskoti is for travelers and guests.

In 2025, we made an important administrative decision: we merged Kangaskoti’s accommodation services under the same business ID as Kangashoiva. This allowed us to combine our resources more clearly. The marketing name Kangaskoti remains - proudly carrying our story forward.

Kangashoiva Oy, HetApu Staffing Services, and Kangaskoti continue their shared journey with a human touch - for life and for people, from the heart of our home.

What makes our business model truly unique is the entrepreneurial partnership between two women and the community of two families living and working together in the beautiful setting of a former village school. With a positive outlook, we move forward - growing, expanding, and embracing the future!
